Your role at a glance
The role holder will work within Legal and General Retirement Institutional (LGRI) with primary responsibilities in the Mortgage Investments business. The role holder will integrate their Credit Risk subject matter expertise into the business to develop L&G's Dutch residential mortgage business and manage the growth of its Dutch mortgage portfolios and provide analysis of credit risk concentrations and assessments of lending policies of mortgages funded by LGRI.
What you'll be doing
Analyse the credit quality of Dutch mortgage portfolios seeking funding from LGRI. This includes quantitative analysis of the loans as well as assessing underwriting policies and procedures for their potential impact on risk.
Monitor any changes in Dutch affordability assessments (Nibud) and individual lender approaches to affordability. Review lender policies and determine expected/likely credit performance.
Maintain and enhance portfolio composition analyses to identify build-up of credit and property risk concentrations within the portfolio (e.g. arrears, flood risks, low value properties and control the level of risk in the portfolio(s).
Monitor portfolio in the context of servicing arrangements between the lender and funder and develop recommendations/management actions to address any potential issues as appropriate.
Assist in evaluating any changes to lending policies from a credit risk point of view by contributing to relevant internal memos and committee papers as necessary.
Work alongside structuring and commercial teams to analyse impact of underwriting quality and asset performance on securitisation structures and control the level of risk in the portfolio(s).
Support new product development and other initiatives by providing assessment of any relevant risks or other impacts on the mortgage investment portfolios to control the level of risk in the portfolio(s).
Operate at all times within the Mandates and Risk Limits set by the Business Divisions to ensure appropriate control for the Group & ensure the principles of conduct risk are embedded in day-to-day operations in line with consumer duty and firm objectives
What we're looking for
- Strong quantitative background and experience
- Deep understanding of credit and lending policies in the Netherlands and related regulations.
- Fluency in Dutch is required
- Strong awareness of mortgage regulations and property market developments and opportunities
- Experience in monitoring portfolios for lending risks and credit performance
- Strong written and verbal communication skills (Dutch and English)
- Ability to multi-task and manage priorities effectively
- Underwriting policy management
- Retail credit risk including understanding of credit scoring
- Data analysis and modelling skills beneficial
