About the Role

As Head of Tech - DDP Data, you are responsible for enabling all teams within Albert Heijn to work with all existing data, without hassle. In this role, you report directly to the Platform Lead DDP and together you oversee all the delivery of all data related capabilities.

This domain covers the full data landscape: the team is offering cloud based storage of all historical data, products to support data governance & data management, enablement for datamart creation, fully managed workspaces for data scientists and machine learning engineers and self service analytics. You and your teams are responsible for the Albert Heijn data platform, ensuring that data will be available for reporting, dashboarding, forecasting, AI applications and other operational processes. At scale, this means processing over 3 billion rows every day. The team will deliver state-of-the-art data solutions to other engineering teams within AH Tech, but next to that also provides solutions to business & finance teams and our data science & analytics team.

Within Albert Heijn more & more data is produced everyday and the need for data driven solutions is growing exponentially. DDP Data is crucial to support Albert Heijn as being a data driven company.

In your role, you lead data enablement delivery, driving continuous innovation and improvement while safeguarding reliable, efficient execution. You work closely with both internal and external partners to ensure high-quality, high-volume performanceand maximum business value within your domain.

You are an inspiring leader: guiding multiple teams, fostering their professional growth, and ensuring that business ambitions and technology solutions are always aligned. Together with stakeholders, you design and implement new services, optimize existing processes, and ensure that our payments and loyalty capabilities are ready for the future.

Responsibilities

Service Delivery & Innovation
• Responsible for data enablement delivery in your domain.
• Collaborate with our product team, our platform architects and other stakeholders to develop new and improved data solutions.
• Ensure the realization of value in alignment with the platform vision.
• Optimize business processes through technology and data driven solutions.

Leadership & Team Development
• Lead internal and external experts and teams to deliver maximum value.
• Foster a positive, inclusive work environment and support the growth of team members.
• Act as a technical sparring partner for staff engineers in your domain.

Strategy & Innovation
• Formulate policy and strategy to optimize the use of technology and data.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to senior management and contribute to annual planning.
• Prioritize projects and collaborate with other Heads of Tech to achieve strategic goals.

Supplier Management & Governance
• Ensure supplier performance and take necessary action when needed.
• Work with suppliers to establish and monitor technical performance metrics.

Who Are We Looking For?

We are looking for an experienced leader with deep knowledge of software development and data platforms. You have a proven track record in managing technical teams and projects, and you stay up to date with the latest technological trends. Additionally, you have:
• A relevant master's degree in information technology or similar
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in a similar role.
• Expertise in modern IT architectures, Agile methodologies, CI/CD, and other relevant standards. Our tech stack: Azure, Databricks, PowerBI, React, etc.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Experience with budgeting and cost efficiency management.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management abilities.
• You're a strong conceptual thinker, adept at strategizing on an organizational level.
• You're a decisive leader, unafraid to make bold moves when necessary.
• You're a master of balancing practical thinking with strategic execution.
• You're a persistent problem solver, knowing when to push forward and when to exercise patience.
• You have a proven track record of leading high performing tech teams and fostering innovation.
• You possess excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluency in Dutch, combined with strong English communication skills

• A competitive annual gross base salary up to € 135.000 (including holiday pay) plus a bonus on top of your salary plus Global Reward Bonus at target
