DescriptionJoining our team in the Berlin office, you will shape Aurora's view on the development of the Dutch and Belgian power system. You will lead the delivery of Aurora's Power and/or Flexibility Market Forecasts for the Netherlands and Belgium and coordinate project teams to perform quantitative analysis on key energy topics. As an Associate, you will play an active role in all aspects of client engagement: identifying issues, forming hypotheses, developing methodologies, and synthesizing conclusions into recommendations.
Our team is closely involved with key decision makers on the energy transition in the Netherlands and Belgium. This means that you will work on projects and topics of high relevance and connect with leading companies, institutions and policy makers. Examples of recent projects we delivered include analysing the impact of deindustrialization and electrification on the Belgian power system, assessing the impact of grid development and grid congestion on the Dutch energy transition, and evaluating business cases for batteries and renewable energy sources in Belgium and the Netherlands.
The successful applicant will combine a strong interest in energy markets and policy with strong quantitative ability and a track record of performance in team-oriented environments. The position suits a professional with 3 - 5 years of relevant experience at a research or consulting firm or other company in the energy sector.

Key Responsibilities- Lead project teams with 1-3 colleagues to develop timely and rigorous quantitative analysis. This includes scoping the analysis, developing an appropriate analytical approach, assuring the quality of our publications as well as coaching analysts and guiding energy modelers.
- Draw insights out of the analysis we produce and communicate findings to clients by creating compelling reports.
- Develop client relationships to thoroughly understand their interests and needs. This entails contributing to product development by identifying new opportunities and expanding our capabilities.
- Build a public profile by presenting at client meetings and representing Aurora at external events. As part of this, you will establish yourself as a thought leader and broaden your personal and Aurora's presence in the energy sector.
What we are looking forRequired attributes:- 3-5 years of experience in the energy sector at a consultancy, energy company, investment bank or other knowledge-driven firm or institute (think tank, university, government, etc.)
- A university degree in either a quantitative subject, coupled with a keen interest in policy developments or a social science, environmental studies, or a related field, coupled with an interest in quantitative analysis
- Demonstrated success in project and process management in a team-oriented environment
- A proven ability to work with data, develop quantitative methods and synthesise complex results into recommendations
- A collaborative nature, strong personal drive, enthusiasm, and a can-do attitude
- An ability to communicate and collaborate with stakeholders from different backgrounds
- Proficiency (C1 Level) in English and Dutch
Desirable attributes:- Prior experience in working with energy system models
- Proficiency of French (B2-C1) is not required, but would be beneficial
